Working closely with our client, ERM (Environmental Resource Management) PMDL was given the opportunity to develop ERM’s new Hong Kong work space that focused on collaboration, promoted ERM’s global identity and position and instilled an environmentally friendly ethos the team can be proud of.

The planning challenged traditional barriers between reception and front of house spaces by consolidating them into the main team work zone.

The 750 sqm workspace will cater for their 78 strong team. Efficiency in planning was achieved by breaking down silos and creating a variety of collaboration zones.

In contrast to many traditional Hong Kong office spaces, PMDL was able to maintain the high ceiling of 3.4m. This allowed maximum natural daylight to filter through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The open plan studio gave all team members a view to Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour by placing shared facilities such as the main team hub and casual meeting spaces by the windows.

The main meeting rooms were designed to be fully flexible and operable for ERM. As a world leader in environmental education and knowledge, ERM holds various seminars and events which allows engagements and sharing of ideas for their team with their guest speakers and other consultants.

By understanding the client’s key needs and ambitions for collaborative team work, we reduced enclosed office spaces and offered more team space for activity-based work solutions, We were able to maintain the budget whilst delivery an inspirational work environment.
