PMDL have completed V Grass Studio, Shanghai. The design embodies the “yun jin (云锦)” heritage of the brand, yet plays with it in modern and surprising ways.
The project reflects on the experiential nature of contemporary retail. Comfortable sofas, playful artworks and bespoke joinery create a social space at the heart of the studio.
The team engaged a variety of local craftsmen to realise the design. These ranged from traditionally trained joiners, to young makers discovered on social media. The result reshapes traditions to create a unique and meaningful place.
